  • Speech pathologists assess and treat communication and swallowing disorders in children and adults. We work in lots of different settings, including schools, hospitals, private clinics, homes, aged-care settings, and mental health facilities.

The work we do takes many shapes. It might be providing therapy for children with delayed or disordered speech skills; supporting people who stutter or have voice disorders; or helping teachers make learning more accessible in classrooms for students with language comprehension difficulties. We diagnose Developmental Language Disorders, which tend to be poorly understood and really affect people’s lives. Some speechies work in acute hospital settings helping people who have had strokes or brain injuries learn how to swallow or speak again.

We provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) supports to people who have significant verbal communication difficulties. We also work with neurodiverse individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or ADHD to help them enrich their social communication skills, emotional literacy, and/or language comprehension.

  • We provide speech pathology and literacy tutoring for children, adolescents, and adults.

Our services are tailored to each client’s functional needs, whether it’s being improving speech articulation, building social skills, developing language comprehension, or providing specialist dyslexia tutoring.

Our specialties are speech and language therapy, social communication, AAC, and dyslexia tutoring. Clients requiring fluency (stuttering) and/or voice therapy are referred on to trusted colleagues who specialise in these specific areas.

  • The first therapy session usually involves an informal communication assessment to understand the client’s needs, goals, and therapy requirements. It’s usually pretty low key! A chance for us to get to know the person.

From there, we develop a personalised therapy plan to maximise that individual’s functional communication and quality of life.
